Average daily time spent with the medium in H1 2023 was 2:49, 8 minutes more than second-ranked Romania. North America averaged 2:44 (Canada came in at just 2:07). That’s more than 20 minutes above Latin America (2:23) and Western Europe (2:14). Over 90% of respondents reported watching live TV in H1 2023.

Another hallmark of the country’s time with broadcast TV: After the US, the UK leads the world in a tie with Romania. This is no doubt a reflection of how ingrained the BBC is into viewing habits throughout Britain. Print time spent increased in many Western European countries, including the UK, where the gain was enough to move the country out of the bottom place it occupied in 2021.

Western Union used its ConvergePROSPERITY platform to power its digital bank pilot WU+ in Germany, Poland, and Romania. The consulting firm is also banking on research it’s done on the growing demand for digital banking options. It hopes to offer products that attract younger customers and create sticky relationships far into the future.
