In-store shopper audiences are predominantly ages 18 to 49. Linear TV’s “money demo” of 18- to 49-year-olds is easy to reach in physical stores. As of last December, this age group made up between 63.4% (The Home Depot) and 83.3% (Sephora) of US in-store audiences for six major brick-and-mortar retailers analyzed by Comscore Plan Metrix Multi-Platform.

So yeah, one of the trends that I wrote about was sort of this idea of the in-store renaissance and how retailers are going to stop trying to compete so much with Amazon on the e-commerce front, and instead they're going to use digital marketing, particularly creator collaborations on TikTok, to really show off the allure of the in-store shopping experience.

The number of in-store shoppers increased by 17% YoY for the five-day period, and each individual day saw double-digit gains, per the National Retail Federation (NRF). Cyber Five ecommerce sales grew better than expected as consumers shopped for deals. Ecommerce was resurgent during the period—which lasts from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday.

Boomers are reverting to old behaviors, illustrated by the return to in-store shopping. Around 40% of boomers said last November that they mostly or always shop in-store, according to data from Attest. For Gen Xers, that total was 27%, with the proportion dropping to 23% among adults overall. Boomers were the only cohort to see in-store responses outnumber online responses.
